WHEN SOMETHING DOES NOT WORK
Fix common saving problems
Simple checks for missing videos, interrupted downloads, and playback issues.
No streams appear in the extension
Press play, wait a few seconds, and reopen the popup. If the detection button says Resume, use it to restart detection. Check your browserâs extension settings to make sure StreamCatcher can access the source site. Reload pages that were open before installation or an update. Small MP4 previews may be hidden by the extensionâs size filter.
A download stops or says the link expired
Video links can expire or depend on the source page remaining available. Reload the source page, start playback, and open a fresh download from the extension. Check your connection too. The app retries some temporary connection problems, but a removed video or expired link needs a fresh source. A new download may start from the beginning.
A recording does not start
Confirm that a video is actually playing on the source page. If Stream Capture asks you to refresh, reload the source and start a new capture so it can see the beginning of the stream. If the player remains incompatible, try a short Tab Record test. Do not keep retrying on a protected or explicitly unsupported site.
The saved picture changes quality or has gaps
Some players lower quality when their tab is hidden, or switch resolution when the connection slows down. Keep the source tab visible and select a fixed quality in its player if possible. Avoid seeking during capture. If a download reports failed sections, use its retry option before choosing to save an incomplete result.
The file will not play, or sound is missing
First check that the browser finished saving the file. For Stream Capture, try the compatibility-converted version when available; the original may use a format your player cannot decode. For a new attempt, make a short test and check both sound and picture. Conversion cannot restore audio or footage that was never captured.
Saving is slow or runs out of space
Long videos and conversion can need room for both the temporary recording and the finished file. Free some disk space, reduce the available source quality, or record a shorter section. Do not clear site data or refresh while a job is running: that can discard work. Finish and save active jobs before changing browser storage settings.
Still need help?
Use Feedback and include your browser, the mode you selected, the visible error message, and what you expected to happen. If appropriate, include a public source page URL. Do not send passwords, private video links, or links containing access tokens. These details help distinguish a site limitation from a problem in StreamCatcher.
